Party of the Night

 I see them
With sparkling spoons, forks and plates.
Shimmering wines,
Dazzling candlelight,
Glassy tables with the savory feast.
They wear elegance-
Embroidered garments,
Glass shoes
Dancing with splendid music
And they enjoyed there
Just behind the ornate walls
Of the diamond castle.
With these I say-
With these, they must have a party.

But I-
With rusted spoons and forks
And shattered plates,
Weakened beer
And the worn-out gas lamp,
With the barren soul
And my ragged clothes,
The chanting wind chimes,
The rotten fruit,
With these I say-
With these, I can have a party.

The stars
Would smile with me,
The wind
Would whisper to me,
The burning coals would give me warmth,
The faded blanket would give relief.
And the dark sky
Would prosper the night,
The clutter
Would watch me through.
This cat would slumber with me,
The cricket would sing the lullaby.
With these I say-
With these, I can have a party.

And I have-
Pages of the Holy Bible
To feed my soul,
A sincere prayer
To guide me through the night.
And accompanied by a Friend-
A Mighty Savior,
A Healer,
The Living God
To dance with ‘till dawn.
With these I say,
With these, I have a party.
